Fake News
Roger Alderson There's been a lot of talk in recent months about 'fake news'. It seems as if fake news is everywhere, and according to politicians it's all the fault of: a) social media, and b) the Russians Both social media and 'the Russians' probably shoulder some of the blame but, lets face it, fake news has been around ... FOREVER. People (especially politicians and governments) have always been trying to manipulate public opinion to further their own agendas. Mainstream media outlets themselves continually create 'news' stories that are biased towards their particular perspective. There are so 'safe' news sources. But, there are some simple things that you can do to test a news story and get an idea of whether or not it is fake, or at least open to debate.
